ALL Vehicles Welcome
-------------------------
Starting off at Rockbridge county's Famous Pink Cadillac Diner, we've set a very simple and scenic route to allow you to enjoy the colors of fall throughout Lexington, Rockbridge, Bath and Alleghany Counties.
We will finish at another local gem of a destination, Douthat State Park for a very special event.
Along the way they'll be plenty of opportunities to pull over, take out the cell phone or camera and capture the moment with a picture or selfie in the middle of the most beautiful scenery and breathtaking views in the States of Virginia and West Virginia.
This is a charity event benefitting the:
Scholarship Fund of Mountain City Masonic Lodge
and
Douthat State Park SPEED Group
Scholarship Fund of Mountain City
Masonic Lodge
Mountain City Masonic Lodge #67 has been a fixture in Lexington and Rockbridge County for over 168 years. Many years ago, the Lodge began providing Scholarships to Graduating Seniors at Rockbridge County High School and Parry McLuer High School.
Last year the Scholarship Fund of Mountain City Masonic Lodge was created as a 501c Charity in order to build a lasting endowment to carry on this tradition. The Lodge and its Trustees have committed to a seed investment of $50,000.00 to the fund.
As the cost of everything including higher education continues to rise, the Lodge is looking to increase the dollar amounts and number of scholarships granted each year. All proceeds from this event will go directly to the helping make that happen.
The Douthat State Park SPEED Group
Douthat S.P.E.ED (State Park Environmental Education) is a group of volunteers that is active within the park and work with the park manager and staff to help raise money for various projects that benefit the park and its guests. Past projects have included helping to build a deck on the restaurant, remodel the front office, purchasing an ATV to assist with search and rescue, and repairing a donated shuttle bus to make it road ready. They also remodeled a bath house and shelter, and turned a field into a group campground for scouts, church groups, etc.
To become involved with the S.P.E.ED. Group please stop by the park office and sign up, or message the Douthat SPEED Group Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/DouthatSPEEDgroup/
